Deconstructing LinkedIn with systems thinking

By Kristofer Palmvik ·

Many LinkedIn posts leave me with a feeling that part of the story is missing. Perhaps that is the whole point.

Throwing around advanced ideas without much context is a common way to create engagement.

Not everything is deep, and not everything is worth analyzing.

But in some cases, I really want to dive deeper and understand what I am subconsciously feeling the post is leaving out.

What is not described? What is being missed? What second and third-order effects are inevitable, yet ignored in the post?

I have started running these posts through my AI assistant with a systems thinking prompt to get a better handle on what is actually going on.

AI is not unbiased and it does not know everything, but it can provide new perspectives.

Maybe you'll find it useful too. And of course, I ran this post through it.

✨ Prompt ✨
Act as an expert in systems thinking. Analyze the LinkedIn post provided below and explore:
- Consequences: Map out the potential first-order (intentional) and second/third-order (unintentional) consequences.
- Blind Spots: What critical variables, stakeholders, or feedback loops are missing?
- Mental Models: What underlying worldview or biases are driving the author's perspective?
