The best colleagues don't keep their knowledge to themselves

By Kristofer Palmvik ·

The best colleagues I've ever worked with all share a specific mindset. They are curious while being generous with their time and knowledge.

They are always interested in expanding their expertise. They share and encourage others to get better. And they are humble when teaching others and ask for their feedback and insights.

When they learn something it is not enough that they know themselves. That's a great first step, and they all know a lot. But these people also focus on helping others understand what they have already grasped.

They are 10x multipliers in different fields.

If you solve a bug but the team does not know or understand it, did you solve it or just hide it?

If you found a great way to work faster but only do it in isolation, did you help speed up the team or just sub-optimize something?

It's all about teamwork. And that's what teamwork is all about.

That's also who I want to be, and what I am striving towards.
