What do you do during your Pomodoro breaks?

By Kristofer Palmvik ยท

The Pomodoro technique is an amazing and simple way to avoid both fatigue and feeling stuck with a task without making progress.

And it works equally well whether you work alone, in a pair, or in a larger ensemble.

25 minute focused work on a specific task. Then five minutes break, preferably away from the computer. Add a longer break every now and then. Repeat until whatever you want to get done is done.

So, what do I do during those precious 5-minute breaks?

Here are some things I use the short breaks for:

๐Ÿฝ Empty the dishwasher
๐Ÿฅ• Grab a (healthy) snack
๐Ÿง˜ Practice mindful breathing
๐Ÿถ Play with the dog
๐Ÿ‘€ Stare at the horizon to give my eyes a break
๐Ÿ“š Read a book
๐ŸŒฌ Take in some fresh air
โœ Write the draft of a LinkedIn post

It is amazing how you can make so much more progress with your work just by doing something completely different, even for a few minutes.
